The NST characterization is telling: “The Rafidah Show “, it’s proclaimed. Well, I suppose it wasn’t an unfounded fear, as the wayang kulit gets underway. The first few pages are dedicated to parliament goings-on today, with the promise of an interview with Rafidah Aziz in tomorrow’s NST. I don’t know if I’m looking forward to it, and I wonder how long it will take before everything blows over.

And at the same time, I’m afraid for what may be passed over in all this sensationalism. From all accounts, Rafidah focused on the other aspects of the automotive industry until MPs starting bringing up questions about the AP issuance and such. My only concern was addressed as a veiled attack, and feeble from the way it’s written:

To another question, Rafidah said Malaysian car companies could compete and also sell their products abroad. “We have sold 20 cars to China but that’s it. I don’t know why there has not been much follow-up in that direction, considering how huge the China market is.”

Cast this way, the whole statement sounds ineffectual, a parting shot that drowned in the news about MPs asking 6 questions lah, her confrontation with LKS lah, he belief that he should find accomodations in a lake/river/sea/ocean lah, it gets wearying after a while.

It’s not last days yet, but this has definitely been the end of the begining. More hilarity will ensue.
