The reason: I blog because I can, because I love to write, and because there're almost always some crazies out there who will actually agree with you. There are no agendas, I don't pretend to be able to change minds, nor inform said minds; there is no 'new' news to 'deliver unto the world', nor is there specific, special or colourful 'insight' to be found in these pages and posts, just my thoughts. I am one of the faceless many just like you, just a little more weird, that's all.
As you would've noticed by now, I tend to write alot. A deplorable failing, I'm sure.
The interests: There are several,
- philosophy: continental thought, hermeneutics, interpretation, rules of interpretation, thomism, etc.
- politics: theory, classical.
- current: local events, global events, events and their significance.
- war: politicization, justification, strategies, terrorism, asymmetrical, 4th generation.
- local: communalism, partisanship, repression, society, culture.
- internet: rights, content creation, content management, tech news, open source!
- books: fantasy, some fiction.
- music: alternative, brit rock, a bit of nu metal, chillout, jazz, trance, prog trance, a bit of DnB.
- movies: too many to name, a general interest in interesting movies and brain-dead fare too.
The apology: Almost all blogs seem to have one, not counting websites. This isn't going to be a rant about freedom of speech, because we're supposed to be personally responsible for what we say. In which case, some of my posts will offend, enrage and inspire holy retribution (bolts of lightning, earthquakes, floods, etc.) from God (because I'm a pseudo-agnostic, sort of..).
Some of my other posts will inspire promises of rotten eggs, flying pies or a chorus of boo's. For these people who don't agree, are enraged, or on the verge of declaring a crusade/jihad, please inform me of my offense first so I'll have a good headstart or engage me with your comments.
I like a good debate, and I can be spurious in my posts to try and encourage it -- which is to say sometimes I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, but in a fit of pseudo-intellectual pride, I write as if I'm god. Since you and I know I'm not god, tell me why I'm wrong or wrong-headed; I'd like to learn. If I find your strenuous objections reasonable, I may update my posts accordingly. Just play nice, that's all.
The profile: I'm a pretty private person, almost bordering on paranoia where web strangers are concerned, except to a very few (read: 2 people so far). If you'll believe it, I try not to engage real-life and internet life for very principled and private reasons. Firstly, if I write anything on this blog, I want it to be judged on the merits of its content, and not have some disciple of Dilthey start psychoanalysing my words with reference to real life bungles, blusters and blistering barnacles. I absolutely reject the idea that a human being knows itself only through its history, conscious or otherwise (I'll let you figure out how irrational this really sounds). Secondly, I'd like to keep my online and offline hallucinations separate so I don't get confused.
